Hello and welcome to my online studio and gallery.   

I am an artist based in Glasgow, Scotland.  I specialise in Animal and Pet Portraits as well as Potraits of people. I also paint scenery, either as a landscape painting, a panorama or as contemporary abstract canvas wall art and I enjoy painting buildings and architecture !

I am a member of Milngavie Art Club. I was previously a member for many years of the Perthshire Art Association and was a Friend of the Society of Equestrian Artists.

I have put three paintings into the Dunkeld Cathedral Art Exhbition. To have a look at my paintings and those of the other artists click here.

September 2010

I am currently working on an exciting painting. It is a detailed panoramic view of hills for a mountain lover. The hills have to be very accurately painted based on an ordnance survey report.   So far it is working out nicely (at 55 inches wide !) I will let you know how it is received as it is a surprise present !

Went to Elaine Woo McGregor talk at Milngavie Art Club.

Hoping to get back for a final visit to the Glasgow Boys exhbition and hope to take along a copy of an Alexander Mann (a Glasgow Boy!) painting that belongs to one of my relatives. Will see if the curator knew about it !

Have just been to the excellent Glasgow Boys exhibition at Kelvingrove, Glasgow - I would recommend it to anyone. It moves to the Royal Academy of Arts Lonodon later in the year. Spring has arrived thank goodness although we still have a chill in the air. I have been busy painting - people and dogs ! However for fun I just entered this Dog Wine Label contest ! Who knows I might get some free bottles !!

Great excitement this year when we found five further paintings by my Great Grandfather Alexander Lightbody. There are three portraits and two landscapes. See in the Alexander Lightbody section under History of Animal Art. 

I know of at least two other paintings out there belonging to Alex and Isabel (Isobel) Lightbody's daughters - if you are out there please get in touch as I cant find you anywhere on  the internet ! Possibly based in Carluke or Lanark area !
